Recently relocated between Cool Beans Café and the Student Information Desk, the Flyer office is a relaxed but professional atmosphere. If the light is on, simply knock on the door and any of the student editors can answer your questions.
Meetings are once a week, Sunday nights at 8 p.m. where concepts are brainstormed and assignments are passed out.
The Flyer staff is welcoming and open to new people. Newspaper is not just for journalism majors.
All students who want to share an opinion or report on campus and community activities are encouraged to submit articles and suggest ideas that need coverage.
Joining the Flyer as a writer is rewarding because it keeps you informed and involved on campus.
You could write for the sports section and attend games with a notebook, sketching out the most important and most interesting competitive details. You could write for gull life and keep Salisbury University students informed on their college community. You could write for editorial and create conversation on pressing issues and lighter subjects.
In addition to the other benefits, the Flyer does offer some monetary compensation for your time and ideas. Articles are priced at $10 each, and photos are priced at $8 each. The money is here for a limited weekly obligation. If you do not have time to write one week, there is no obligation. It is a job with no perpetual time constraints and lets you have a little money in your pocket for expressing your opinion or informing others on breaking news.
Join us next semester to broaden your horizons and reach for the stars. The Flyer welcomes you and your ideas. Just stop in to our offices if you have any questions.
