Derulo makes SU students “Wiggle” at 2016 Gullfest

It’s not everyday that an iHeart Radio Music Festival performer and award-winning artist comes to Salisbury University, but that’s exactly what happened on Sunday night as hundreds of students packed in to Maggs Gym to witness the 2016 Gullfest headliner, Jason Derulo.

Students danced and sang along as Derulo sang his hits of the past and present. But the show was not without it’s complications.

After the shows two opening acts, The Jesters and breakfast performed, Student Activities Director Tricia Garvey-Smith came on stage to announce that Derulo had transportation issues and the show was delayed from 6:15 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The gym was shut down and then reopened at 8:30 p.m. for all students. Around 9:30 p.m. Derulo came on stage with his dancers and quickly hyped the crowd.

But as Derulo was singing his new single “If It Ain’t Love” about 45 minutes into the show, the sound suddenly cut out.

However Derulo and his team tried to not let it kill the show. As they say, the show must go on.
